OpenClaw is open-source software released under the MIT License. This means you are free to:

5. User Responsibilities

When using OpenClaw, you agree to:

  • Comply with Laws: Use the Software in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Respect Platform Terms: Follow the terms of service of any messaging platforms you connect (WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.)
  • Protect API Keys: Keep your AI provider API keys secure and confidential
  • Responsible Use: Not use the Software for spam, harassment, illegal activities, or to violate others' privacy
  • AI Provider Terms: Comply with the terms of service of your chosen AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.)

6. Third-Party Services

OpenClaw integrates with third-party services including AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) and messaging platforms (WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, etc.). Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms of service.

We are not responsible for:

  • The availability or reliability of third-party services
  • Changes to third-party APIs or terms of service
  • Fees charged by third-party services
  • Content generated by AI providers

7. AI-Generated Content

OpenClaw facilitates access to AI language models. You acknowledge that:

  • AI responses may contain errors or inaccuracies
  • AI-generated content should not be relied upon for medical, legal, or financial advice
  • You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-generated content before acting on it
  • AI responses do not represent our views or opinions

8. Messaging Platform Compliance

When connecting OpenClaw to messaging platforms, you agree to:

  • Only connect accounts you own or have authorization to use
  • Not use OpenClaw to send automated messages that violate platform policies
  • Accept responsibility for any consequences of automated messaging
  • Understand that platforms may restrict or ban accounts for automated usage

9. Contributions

If you contribute code, documentation, or other content to the OpenClaw project:

  • You grant us a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use your contributions
  • You represent that you have the right to make such contributions
  • Your contributions will be licensed under the MIT License

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date and posting an announcement on our website or GitHub repository.

Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
